Greenfield, Ma, Dec 3 / -- More families than ever before are seeking food assistance across western Massachusetts. Food insecurity (not knowing where you will find next meal) affects over 60,000 residents in Western Mass. Thousand of Western Massachusetts’ residents face hardship putting food on the table every day—including the holidays. Hunger is an epidemic that the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts (FBWM) addresses 365 days a year. This Season, New England Natural Bakers (NENB) is teaming up with the FBWM on a Facebook campaign designed to raise funds to help the more than 108,00 food insecure individuals in Western Mass.

“All it takes is one click online to help raise money for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts," said Todd Einig, brand sales manager for NENB. "For every new person who likes New England Natural Bakers on Facebook between November 1st and December 25th, we'll give one dollar to the FBWM, up to $5,000. All the money we raise will go to support FBWM's commitment minimizing the impact of chronic hunger. Every one-dollar donated can be leveraged by FBWM to provide nine dollars worth of food. In 2009 the company began working with the food bank in a variety of ways including: employee volunteering, food drives, recycle drives and fund raising efforts. The Food Bank, headquartered in Hatfield, has been helping people in need in Western Massachusetts since 1983. It works with over 400 satellite agencies in the region and was able to distribute more than 7 million pounds of food in 2009.
